There also have been rumours about the presence of supernatural powers that grip several places in the country. BHANGARH FORT: THE MOST HAUNTED PLACE IN INDIA
Bhangarh Fort is so dangerous that even the Archaeological Survey of India legally prohibited anyone from entering there after dark. Some veritable popular Bhangarh Fort haunted stories are there, and many paranormal Bhangarh Fort incidents are heard. Therefore, the natives avoid going near the fort after dusk. According to the legends, it is a saying that the Princess of Bhangarh Ratnavati was the most beautiful lady. Once a wicked wizard, Singhia fell in love with her and wanted to marry her. However, the princess uncovered his plans and sentenced him to death. Before his death, infuriated by the turn of events, he cursed the fort to doom and the town to be roofless and miserable forever.
THE BAROG TUNNEL, HIMACHAL PRADESH
Have you ever travelled through the Shimla-Kalka Railway stretch? It is not only famous for the stunning landscape but famous for a fascinating supernatural tale involving the tragic suicide of a British engineer in the early 20th century. Tunnel 33 is famously known as the Barog Tunnel and the straightest train tunnel, but that is not the only speciality. In 1903, the British government assigned Colonel Barog the responsibility of building a tunnel in this area. Although, he committed a fatal mistake in calculation. He ended up digging parallel tunnels which led to the public shaming of him and, in utter depression.
Therefore, Colonel Barog shot himself inside the unfinished tunnel. However, another engineer completed the tunnel. There is a tale that Colonel Barog never really left that place. Natives hold that they have seen Colonel Barog’ spirit time and again in and around the tunnel. Alert! It is prominent to mention that Colonel Barog’ ghost is believed to be a friendly one. There is no report of any fatal encounters that have been noticed!
KULDHARA: THE CURSED HAUNTED PLACE
Rajasthan ensures the finest selection of deserted ghostly villages and towns! Therefore, Kuldhara is one of the most haunted places in India near Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. These narrow deserted & ancient streets of Kuldhara are the source of myths, spooky folklore, and stories of ghosts and paranormal activity like the sudden disappearance of villagers into thin air, leaving no trace of their whereabouts. It lies in ruins, and all that is left are various open houses in a state of despair. At first sight, this cursed ghost town, Kuldhara, gets the thinking caps on and immediately increases people’s faith in metaphysical and paranormal activities.
DOW HILL, KURSEONG
Kurseong is a beautiful place known for its world-class residential schools and a small hill station near Darjeeling. Surprise! This scenic town has its dark side, replete with tales of murder and horror. It is said that Victoria Boys’ School of Kurseong is a haunted place plagued with many spirits. Natives claim that they hear footsteps, whispers, and scary noises coming from the school even when it remains closed. Besides, the forest area of Kurseong is the setting for the tale of the headless boy. The native woodcutters, who wander into the forest in line of duty, also have reported spotting a young headless boy and disappearing into the trees after some time.
CHANDAN NAGAR IN PUNE
Chandan Nagar in Pune also finds its place in the list of the most haunted places in India. A little over a decade ago, a girl died during the construction of a building in the Chandan Nagar locality in Pune. Ever since then, tales of her spirit roaming around the locality have been popular in Pune. People claim to have seen a young girl dressed in a bloodstained white frock and holding a doll in her hand. How exactly she died is still a mystery. Although, from what we have heard, a locality is a haunted place and the faint-hearted must not visit there.
THE SHANIWARWADA FORT, PUNE
The Shaniwarwada Fort is a historical delight in addition to being one of the haunted places in India. Many believe that the story that is associated with this fort is one of the scariest stories. Lauded for its architectural brilliance, and it has witnessed various strange occurrences. The legend has it that during Purnima (full moon), the level of supernatural activity increases. The mysterious story surrounding this fort talks about how a cruel relative brutally murdered a young prince there. Therefore, his spirit still haunts the place in the night and one can hear the sounds of him shrieking almost violently. Many natives camps at night on the fort grounds just there to listen to the little boy’s scream for help. However, most people prefer to visit the fort during the morning hours as it is desirable.
MALCHA MAHAL, DELHI
Princess Sakina and Prince Riaz used to stay in the dilapidated Malcha Mahal, situated in a thick acacia forest. After their mother committed suicide, the duo did not bury her and mourned her for ten days, her dead body resting on a table. Then, they cremated her and kept her ashes in a crystal vial. The government gave the right to the family to shoot anyone who tried to enter the compound. Moreover, the ferocious hounds were guarding Malcha Mahal. Since then, countless people have been reported missing trying to get in. Oh, and by the way, Princess Sakina wears only black and has not combed her hair or left the building in decades. Just saying it is not a reality.
RAMOJI FILM CITY, HYDERABAD
There is a big film city in Hyderabad like Universal Studios, and the hotels of Ramoji film city are one of the most haunted places in India. It is because the film city is built on the war grounds of the Nizam Sultans. Some witnesses report the lights kept on top keep falling off, the light men who sit with the lights on top pushed many a time, and many have had grievous injuries.
Moreover, the food left in rooms also gets scattered around the room, and strange marks are left on the mirror, some scripts resembling Urdu. Interestingly! Girls are the ghosts’ favourite to haunt. They trouble the girls so much, they tear their clothes, knock on the bathroom doors while the outside doors are locked. They create havoc just like hell. The authorities took many preventive measures to prevent hauntings, but of no use as they return after some time
KARKARDOOMA COURT: THE MODERN HAUNTED PLACE
If you thought that the antique style of architecture is the haunted place in India, you are wrong here. The attorneys and lawyers working at the court demesne reported swinging padlocks, loud knocking on doors, fading books, the appearance of a hazy figure through walls and the dislocation of chairs & computers and the switch on and off of lights themselves. These are just many effects that make the Karkardooma High Court one of the utmost chine-chilling and haunted places in India. So much so that the attorneys made police complaints against this being.
